I sat for a few moments thinking about this question … because mental health therapy is a big deal.
It’s a big deal because it’s not making a hair appointment, taking your car to the car wash nor getting a manicure, or a pedicure, nor booking a vacation.
Mental health therapy is about processing difficult issues that you’ve experienced. The issues facing you may have been embarrassing, shameful, criticized, and even judged.
The fundamental approach a therapist must take is to
- listen wholeheartedly
- care unconditionally, and
- empathize genuinely and compassionately.
I do possess these skills – and they don’t come naturally to everyone.
Statistics have proven the number one triumph in therapy is the therapeutic connection between therapist and client. I believe that once you have started therapy with me, you will know I’m the right therapist for you. You will feel a reassuring sense of belonging in your heart which surpasses everything else.
