My specific therapeutic skills are
- convey empathy
- enhance motivation
- encourage clients to dig deep
- refrain from judgement, and
- show compassion and understanding,
These are all with the ultimate objective of helping my clients to gain a better awareness of themselves, and attain the goals they came into therapy to accomplish.
There is a specific theoretical orientation to which I ascribe. It’s called client centered theory. The philosophy of this theory is that humans strive to self-actualize and increase their capabilities of answering this awareness, putting it into reality.
The technique of the therapist, me, is to provide authenticity, unconditional positive regard and empathy.
