How Can You Relate To My Situation?

Updated 04-Oct-2020 - First Published 02-Aug-2019 by Debi Douglas

When people enter a therapy they will want ensure the therapist is relatable and can understand their particular situation. As human beings we all go through difficult and challenging life experiences. Fundamentally, the purpose of therapy for the client is to be heard, to be understood and to believe that at some level the problem will be addressed.

I do not need to have experienced exactly what you have experienced in order to be able to relate. My experience lies in having listened to and spoken with literally hundreds of people in dire and diffley circumstances. I will not underestimate the severity of your situation.

Research shows that the greatest predictor of success in therapy is a therapeutic bond and relationship between therapist and client. Successful therapy may be achieved when there is good communication and empowered collaboration between therapist and client.

I can assure you that I will be able to empathize with your situation. I'm your 100% to support you and walk alongside you in your journey towards healing.
