Anxiety causes problems. Anxiety can transform into excessive worry. People who suffer from anxiety don't understand why they feel the way they do, or why their heads are constantly filled with negativity and deadly fears.
Symptoms range from heart palpitations, shortness of breath, queasy feelings in the stomach, inexplicable and unworldly feelings, to panic attacks while driving and fear of imminent death.
The sufferer can believe there is something terribly wrong with their health and that something life-threatening will happen. Anxiety can lead people to visit the emergency room repeatedly, or to result in multiple doctor appointments in the space of a just a few weeks.
Because according to your doctor ...
Your heart is functioning well and you are not dying!

So, why is it that anxiety make people feel like they are dying? Mostly it's because they don't understand anxiety and are terrified by the nature of it.
I help my clients to dissect the cause of their anxiety. Anxiety may be revealed in many different forms. Including panic disorders, phobias often related to the fear of flying as well as the fear of driving, social anxiety and generalized (excessive worry) anxiety.
I believe if you are able to understand exactly what's going on in your body, in your thoughts and in your behaviors, then therapy can reduce the symptoms and allow the sufferer to maintain a manageable lifestyle.
Some of the therapeutic interventions used are EMDR, CBT, ACT and Christian counseling. These techniques calm the body, challenge negative thoughts, develop courage, confront fears, and lead to coping statements.
